2023 Presidency: Asiwaju Tinubu is backed by northern Christian clergymen

April 22, 2022

A coalition of Northern Christian Clergymen has reaffirmed its support and endorsement for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, to succeed Muhammadu Buhari as president in the 2023 general elections.

Tinubu is a trusted ally and friend of the North, according to the organization, and they will be eternally grateful for his remarkable gestures for them.

While interacting with journalists in Abuja on Friday, the clerics reiterated their support for Tinubu.

Bishop Ndubisi Nwogu, the Coalition's Secretary General, stated that as the party's primaries approach, it is critical to inform Nigerians about Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's significant contributions to the Christian community in Northern Nigeria.

"Though a Muslim, his love and devotion for Christians knows no bounds."

In his actions, he has demonstrated this.

"The Coalition of Northern Clergymen is honoured to be associated with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a noble man."

'We want to state unequivocally that, of all the people who have expressed interest in leading the country, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only one who commands significant respect and support from the Christian community in Northern Nigeria and other parts of the country.’

'This is also supported by the fact that his wife, Senator Remi Tinubu, is a devout Christian. As a result, we are adamant that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is Nigeria's most trusted Christian friend.

'Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has certainly demonstrated God's word in 1 Samuel 18:1: "And it came to pass, after he had finished speaking to Saul, that Jonathan's soul was knit with David's soul, and Jonathan loved him as his own." And Saul took him that day, refusing to let him return to his father's house. Jonathan and David then made a vow because he loved him as if he were his own soul," he explained.

According to the coalition, Tinubu has a natural affinity for Christians across the country and regards everyone as a brother or sister.

Bishop Nwogu of the Coalition of Northern Clergymen feels that if those in positions of power in the country replicate Tinubu's leadership style in terms of religious and ethnic ties, Nigeria will be a better country.

"We would want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his never-ending compassion for Nigeria's Christian community, which has left an indelible mark on our hearts."

“His love has continued to expand beyond our imaginations over the years; we boldly say Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a true friend who stands by his words and convictions. We employ Nigerians to take Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his words. He means whatever he says, and paramountly, he can always be trusted in all his endeavours.

“We wish to urge Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remain steadfast in his love and affection towards the Christain community in Nigeria,” he said.
