CAN condemn the explosions in Taraba and accuses FG

April 24, 2022

The Nigerian Christian Association (CAN) in Taraba state expressed concern on Saturday after an explosion shook Jalingo, the state capital, on Friday.

The explosion in Jalingo occurred four days after another in the state's Iware district, according to CAN President Isaiah Jirapye.

Both attacks have been claimed by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

"However, the state of CAN Taraba expressed disappointment for the federal government's handling of the battle against terrorism, because there is no seriousness on the part of the federal government, but rather lip service," Mr. Jirapye stated.

"The explosion in Jalingo, which injured a number of people, demonstrates the presence of bad elements and terrorists in the state." Carrying a bomb or explosive device and detonating it among people to murder is satanic, he opined.

Because life is sacred and belongs to God, Jirapye stated that CAN opposes the Nukkai explosion.

"Tarabanians must stand up to ensure that the state's peace is preserved, and say no to murderous terrorists hell-bent on disrupting the peace and unity of our beloved state," he continued.

The group also encouraged the Taraba state administration to take steps to identify and evict these members, as well as their collaborators, who have set up camps around the state.

Residents must understand that winning the war is a common responsibility, as a result of the necessity for everyone to participate as stakeholders in the consolidation of peace and stability, according to the cleric.

"If you see something, say something; everyone's business is safety."

"The Tarabanese must never be fearful; instead, they must be strong, for God will undoubtedly grant us victory in these battles." It's a time for all of us to pray for our country.

"In this fight, the traditional institution is a vital organ." To immediately stop this trend of planting explosive devices in the state, the administration must build effective synergies with them in order to locate the center of these terrorists among the people.

"It is past time for individuals to place a premium on environmental safety. They should avoid needless gatherings and increase serious security inspections at official gatherings, according to the official.
