Christians near Kaduna City Attacked by Armed Terrorists

April 06, 2022

According to accounts, armed terrorists invaded a mostly Christian neighbourhood of Kaduna city in northern Nigeria on Thursday night (March 31), killing three Christians and wounded three more.

Late at night, gunmen invaded Angwan Bulus hamlet in Chikun County's Sabon Tasha area, according to Rev. Ibrahim Simon, a local pastor.

"Please pray with us as we are being assaulted by terrorists at Angwan Bulus community in Sabon Tasha, Kaduna state," Pastor Simon stated in a text message to Morning Star News. "Gunmen are laying siege to the community." Three Christians have been confirmed deceased, and three more have been injured."

A Christian ministry employee, the Kaduna Rescue Mission, was among those killed, according to another source.

According to Suzan Audu Makama, another area resident, the attack started around 9 p.m.

"Right now, only God can save us," Makama added. "Your prayers are needed at Angwan Bulus in Sabo Tasha."

When the incident began, Ezekiel Gabriel of Kaduna said he was visiting a relative in Angwan Bulus.

In a text message to Morning Star News, Gabriel said, "I was at Angwan Bulus around 9 p.m. tonight night, and the next thing I heard was many gunshots." "This Christian community was targeted by terrorists. People were shot, and people were fleeing; children were fleeing, and I had to flee for my life as well."

Gabriel was able to get several of the victims out of the area in his car and to a safe location. “Christians are really suffering here in Kaduna,” Gabriel said.

On March 30, two Christians working on their farms in Angwan Barde village, a suburb of Kaduna, were kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

According to Angwan Barde resident Theo Danjuma, the herders called the families of the two Christian farmers and demanded ransom payments in exchange for their release.

In a text message to Morning Star News, Danjuma added, "Christian people of Angwan Barde are largely peasant farmers - these herders bandits demand ransoms in millions of naira." "How can the families of these kidnapped Christian farmers be able to afford such large sums?"

The Angwan Barde community is located along the Kaduna-Abuja route, which has become notorious for herdsmen and terrorist kidnappings.
